Father-son duo kidnap 15-year-old girl to get her forcefully married

Police in Jammu and Kashmir’s Reasi district have arrested a man and his son for abducting a 15-year-old girl in order to get her married to his elder son. The accused have been identified as Ghulam Ali and his son Abdul Ahad, both local residents. The matter came to light when the accused kidnapped the girl from the Kansali area in a van on Wednesday night said police adding that the accused’s elder son was in love with the girl.
They were taking her to Kashmir where the elder son, Riyaz Ahmed works, said an official familiar with the matter.
Soon after the abduction, the girl’s parents filed a complaint with the Mahore police station prompting local law enforcement to launch a search operation for her. In their complaint, the parents had specified that their daughter did not wish to marry Riyaz, the kidnapper’s eldest son. Fortunately, police parties apprehended the van near Gool and rescued the girl while arresting Ghulam and his son. Both of the accused have been booked under section 363 and 341 of the Ranbir Penal Code (RPC).
A similar incident was reported from Himachal Pradesh earlier this year when a man and his son kidnapped a 19-year-old engineering student. The girl was then married off to the man’s eldest son and was confined to the family home in Kullu district. Based on a complaint by the victim’s mother, police arrested the father-son duo and rescued the girl. Police officials said that the girl had turned down the boy’s marriage proposal when the two were studying together in the same college. (Times Now)
