Father arrested for abandoning newborn from Srinagar’s Nowhatta area

Srinagar : A south Kashmir resident was arrested and later bailed out in the Nowhatta area old city after  he was allegedly trying to abandon his infant son on Monday afternoon.

The person was identified as Manzoor Hussain Banyari, son of Misri Banyari, a resident of Shamsipora Shopian.
The said person was later released on bail and the baby, according to police, has been shifted to hospital for treatment.
Superintendent of police  Sajad Ahmad Shah told  that the person was caught by the locals and handed over to Police station Nowhatta after he was trying to abandon his infant. “The baby was suffering from tumor and the said person told police that he was very poor and could not treat his newly born baby. The case stands registered in police station Nowhatta under FIR number 72/2018 under section 317 RPC,” Shah said.
