Former Director General of Police, S. P. Vaid said on Tuesday that IPS officer made many efforts to bring his militant brother, Shams-ul-Haq, back into the mainstream, who was killed in an encounter in Shirmal area of south Kashmir’s Shopian district.

Soon after the news of Haq’s killing went viral in the area, Ex-DGP of J-K expressed via Twitter that, “Shamsul Haq, brother of IPS officer who had joined militant ranks was among the 3 terrorists killed today in Shopian. I remember the efforts that were made by his brother/other family members and J&K Police to bring him back to mainstream but he met a sad end today.”

Haq was killed during the encounter with the government forces in Shopian district of south Kashmir on Tuesday.
