Prepare for the greatest experience after eating a nutritious breakfast. You will travel over some of the highest passes in the world on your adventure, and you will be greeted by ever-changing vistas of the desolate landscape. Stop at the café on Khardung-La Pass, the highest all-season motorable road in the world, and take in the scenery; you'll feel as though you're on top of the world. Upon leaving Khardung-la, the terrain changes to a white sand desert as you approach the Nubra Valley, which is home to the Nubra Sand Dunes. Visit the Diskit Monastery, the oldest and biggest monastery in Ladakh, which also contains a sizable Buddha statue, if time permits.

Srinagar, March 1 : A civilian was injured as cross border shelling erupted in Uri and Kamalkote sectors of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

Reports  said that fresh shelling erupted at Gawahalan, Chokas, Kiker and Kathi posts in Uri sector and across whole Kamalkote sector. The Indo-Pak armies exchanged heavy shelling since 3:00 am with mortars and small arms in these sectors.

A police officer while confirming it said that Pakistan Army in violation of ceasefire attacked several Indian Army posts in these areas. “The Army manning the fence responded the shelling effectively”, he said.

The official said that some shells landed into residential areas. “One civilian Mohd Reyaz Khan son of Nazir Khan of Madiyan Kamalkote was injured and was taken to sub district hospital Uri for treatment”.

When reports last came in, the cross-border shelling were intermittently going on at all these places.

Meanwhile the border residents living near shelling prone areas are frightened amid heightened tension between the two countries following air strikes across LoC. (GNS)
