DC B’la chairs Disaster Management Meet, Reviews Preparedness

Baramulla, 01 March: Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Dr G N Itoo today chaired a meeting here at the meeting hall of DC office to review the disaster preparedness especially in the wake of Cross LoC firing in Uri Sector.

You will travel over some of the highest passes in the world on your adventure, and you will be greeted by ever-changing vistas of the desolate landscape. Stop at the café on Khardung-La Pass, the highest all-season motorable road in the world, and take in the scenery; you'll feel as though you're on top of the world. Upon leaving Khardung-la, the terrain changes to a white sand desert as you approach the Nubra Valley, which is home to the Nubra Sand Dunes. Visit the Diskit Monastery, the oldest and biggest monastery in Ladakh, which also contains a sizable Buddha statue, if time permits.

On the occasion, the DC took a thorough review regarding the disaster preparedness wherein he stressed for close coordination among agencies to safeguard the precious lives and property in case of eventualities. He also directed the concerned to remain prepared and ensure prompt action so that any eventuality may be tackled smoothly.

Meanwhile, the DC was informed that in district Baramulla about 500 volunteers from Red Cross, Civil Defense, NYK, DYSS, SDRF and from other agencies are currently in service who have been imparted requisite training to tackle the eventualities smoothly.

Dr Itoo stressed for mobilizing men and machinery and utilize the services of volunteers and organizations to take prompt action during occurrence of any kind of disaster. He also directed the concerned authorities to strengthen disaster mechanism and ensure effective communication for early and timely response. Moreover, the DC called for close coordination between the agencies to ensure timely rescue and rehabilitation measures.

Meanwhile, various issues hampering the smooth functioning of disaster management were highlighted wherein the DC assured for their timely redressel.

Chief Medical Officer, NYK Coordinator, DYSS Officer, representatives of various volunteer organizations and various other concerned were present on the occasion.
