Wachi residents accuse DC for attempting to establish college in Reshipora

SRINAGAR, March 9: The residents of Wachi-Shopian Saturday held a protest against the district development commissioner for attempting to lay foundation of newly announced degree college at Reshipora.

Prepare for the greatest experience after eating a nutritious breakfast. You will travel over some of the highest passes in the world on your adventure, and you will be greeted by ever-changing vistas of the desolate landscape. Stop at the café on Khardung-La Pass, the highest all-season motorable road in the world, and take in the scenery; you'll feel as though you're on top of the world. Upon leaving Khardung-la, the terrain changes to a white sand desert as you approach the Nubra Valley, which is home to the Nubra Sand Dunes. Visit the Diskit Monastery, the oldest and biggest monastery in Ladakh, which also contains a sizable Buddha statue, if time permits.

The residents held a protest accusing DC Shopian for attempting to lay foundation stone of degree college at Reshipora instead at Wachi.

“All the formalities have been completed and even free land is available at Wachi but DC wants establishment of college at Reshipora,” Manzoor Ahmad Wani, a resident Wachi said.

He said that land has been identified by the officials too many times. “Wachi is the best location for establishing the college.  DC Shopian has brought the foundation stone and kept in his office,” he said.
