Day 2: Warpora Sopore encounter continues

Srinagar, March 22 : The encounter between militants and government forces at Warpora area of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district entered the second day on Friday.

SSP Sopore Javid Iqbal told that the operation was still in progress and so far there was no clarity about killing of any militant as no body has been recovered so far.

“We have installed lights and the cordon in the area is intact,” the SSP said.

The encounter broke out at Mir Mohalla area of Warpora Sopore after a joint team of Army’s 22 RR, special operation group of police and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation in the area on Thursday morning.

Station House Officer (SHO) and his two security guards were injured near the encounter site yesterday.
