SKIMS medical college holds event on World Tuberculosis Day

Srinagar, Mar 24 :  “World Tuberculosis Day 2019” was commemorated by Department of Community Medicine, SKIMS Medical College & Hospital, under the stewardship of Principal SKIMS Medical College & Hospital, Prof. Reyaz A. Untoo, as a collaborative venture with BMO Office, RHTC, Soibugh at PHC, Wadwan. The event was attended by Dr. Mehmooda Jan, BMO Soibugh.

The audience comprised of FMPHWs and ASHAs. The function started with an introductory speech by Dr. Yasmeen Jan, Assistant Professor, Department of Community Medicine, SKIMS Medical College & Hospital who deliberated on the importance and impact of tuberculosis and this year’s theme, “It’s Time”.

Students of the college then performed a skit depicting the stigma associated with the disease and measures to counter it.

This was followed by a FAQ session, delivered by mode of role play by Senior Residents and Interns of the Department of Community Medicine.

Dr. Beenish Mushtaq, Lecturer, Department of Community Medicine, SKIMS Medical College & Hospital, presented a comprehensive PowerPoint Presentation on the topic. A documentary was then played with the purpose of reinforcing all the key messages.
