Brief exchange of firing in Shopian, area under cordon

Srinagar, March 28: A brief Shootout took place between militants and forces in Yarwan area of Keller in South Kashmir’s Shopian district on Thursday.

Reports reaching said that a joint of Army’s 23 PARA and SOG launched cordon and search operation in Keller.

A senior police officer told that we had some credible inputs about the presence of some militants in the area.

The officer further said that as the joint team of forces were laying cordon near suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon goverment forces triggering an brief shootout.

As per the official sources it’s a hideout and 3 to 4 militants are believed to be trapped. Meanwhile more reinforcement has been rushed to the spot.

Till this report was being filed no exchange of firing was reported.(GNS)
