Woman killed, 5 civilians injured in fresh shelling, firing near LoC in Poonch

Poonch, April 1 : After a girl, a woman was killed and five civilians, three of them from fairer gender, were injured in fresh firing as India and Pakistan traded fresh fire along the Line of Control in this mountainous district on Monday night.

Sajad Bi wife of Mohd Yaqaoob died due to fresh shelling in Balonie in Krishna Ghate sector, local sarpanch Mohd Shareef said.

Meanwhile, five more civilians were injured in the fresh shelling and firing by Pakistan in the sector in the district.

SDPO Mendhar Neeraj Padyar told  that Pakistan army in violation of the ceasefire targeted civilian areas in the sector, leading the death of the woman and injuries to five persons, three of them from fairer gender. While all the injured have been hospitalized, he said, Indian army retaliated the fire “effectively.”

Meanwhile, due to the prevailing situation on Line of Control, all the government and private schools located in 0-5 KM range from LoC in Poonch district shall remain closed Tuesday, officials ordered. (GNS)
