Election security boots in Baramulla ahead of LS polls

Baramulla, April 10 : Security has beefed up on Wednesday across northern region of Kashmir ahead of Lok Sabha elections slated to begin from Thursday for Baramulla seat.

A senior police official told Kashmir Indepth that hundred companies of central paramilitary forces have already arrived here in parts of Northern region to provide a secured atmosphere to the poll process.

Officer said that extra ordinary security arrangements have been placed in Baramulla for conducting election smoothly and peacefully.

All vehicles entering the town are being thoroughly checked by deployed forces at multiple places of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district officer added.

Meanwhile, scores of motorbikes, cars were seized by the police at various check posts in the town on Monday and Tuesday with incomplete documents or in cases where the bikers had violated traffic rules.

Pertinently, PDP’S Abdul Qayoom Wani, Raja Aijaz Ali of People’s Conference, Akbar Lone of National Conference, Er Rasheed as Independent, BJP’s M. M War, Najeeb Naqvi as Independent, Farooq Ahmed Mir for Congress, Jehangir Khan NPP, Javeed Ahmed Qureshi as Independent, Abdul Rashid Sheikh are contesting Lok Sabha elections for Baramulla seat.
