Budgam, Apr 11 : The road to Tosamaidan in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district is in shambles while the promises of the state government to develop it as a befitting tourist destination have not been fulfilled.
A delegation from far flung Satharan village told news agency that the road leading to Tosamaidan is completely in shambles. They said that the then state government had announced to develop the area as a tourist destination.
However, the first step towards developing the area as a tourist destination is yet to be taken. “It sans road connectivity and no initiative has been taken to develop a road to connect the area,” they said.
The delegation said that successive governments in the state ignored their area while the problems they have been facing were never addressed. “Politicians visit the Satharan area only when they want votes. Once the election is over, they stop listening to people,” the delegation said and demanded that the 10 kilometer stretch from Satharan to Tosamaidan should be macadamized without any delay.
Villages adjoining to Tosamaidan including Drung Sutharan, Shalkin, Dum Dum, Peer Gali, Hapahas, Kadlibal, Cheena Gali, Bandar Sar, Ghada Taar and Doorin have pinned hopes on tourism development. “We urge the authorities to develop road connectivity within shortest span of time,” they said. (CNS)
