Police Station Maisuma arrests Assailant

 

SRINAGAR, APR 30 : Police Station Maisuma arrested an assailant, who attacked and injured an ice-cream vendor near Ghanta Ghar.

Yesterday, Police Station Maisuma received a distress call that one ice cream vendor near Ghanta Ghar was attacked by an unknown assailant with a sharp edged weapon and is bleeding on the spot. Responding swiftly, a Quick Response Team, from Police Station Maisuma reached the spot and shifted the injured person to the hospital who was identified as Asif Ahmad Mir resident of Kupwara.

Consequently, a case FIR No. 13/19 under relevant sections of law was registered and investigation was initiated in the matter.

During the course of investigation, the accused was identified as Burhan Ahmad Wani son of Khazir Mohammad Wani resident of Maisum at present Maloora HMT. He had fled away from the spot after committing the crime.

The accused was tracked by police and was taken into custody. When the officers spoke to him about the incident, they learnt of his involvement in the crime and subsequently a weapon of offence was also recovered. He has been charged for attempt to murder and remains in custody.

People have hailed the swift action of police.
