Sumbal minor’s rape: Youth critically injured as clashes rock Valley

Srinagar, May 13 : A 23-year-old youth was injured critically as clashes and protests against rape of minor girl from Sumbal rocked several parts of Kashmir Valley.

Reports reaching said that a peaceful protest march led by social activist and senior Advocate Syed Mujeeb u Rehman was held in Anantnag district of south Kashmir demanding justice for 3 year old rape survivor from Sumbal.

The protest was attended by scores of civil society members and advocates. They start protest march from court complex upto DC office in the southern district.

Reports of protests were received from Kupwara, Sopore, Pattan Chanabal, Mirgund, Hygam, Sumbal, Utter Kreeri, Baramulla.

Demanding stern action, the protesters mostly students from various schools, Higher Secondaries, colleges against the accused involved in the minor’s rape.

In wake of the law and order problem in several parts of the northern district, the authorities have suspended train services from Srinagar to Baramulla as a precautionary measure.

Meanwhile, all shops and business establishments are closed in Sopore and its outskirts while as traffic movement was thin on roads as well. (GNS)
