Sopore, May 24 : Amid complete shutdown, protests and clashes erupted in old town area of Sopore in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district after Friday prayers against the killing of millitant commander Zakir Musa who was killed in a gunfight with government forces at DadrasaTral on Thursday night.
The protests erupted soon after the congregational Friday prayers in the old town area of Sopore, where Jamia Masjid is located. The youth resorted to stone-throwing on police and CRPF personnel in the area, who retaliated with teargas shelling to desperse them.
Clashes in the area was on when last reports came in.
Meanwhile Kashmir shuts to mourn the killing of Ansar Gazwatul Hind (AGH) Cheif Zakir Musa.
All the business establishments and other commercial activities shut across Kashmir, while authorities suspended internet services in Kashmir also as a precautionary measure in view of the prevailing situation in the valley.
Pertinently, sea of people on Friday visited the Noorpora area of Tral to participate in the last rites of slain militant.
