31 killed as overloaded bus falls in gorge in Kishtwar

 

Jammu, July 1 : Thirty one people were killed and seven others injured when a minibus they were travelling in met with an accident in Kishtwar district of Jammu on Monday morning.

Official sources told that the minibus (JK17-6787) on way to Kishtwar from Keshwan overturned near Sirgwari and fell into a deep gorge, resulting in on the spot death of the 28 people and injuries to 11 other persons who were shifted to hospital by people and police teams which were rushed to eavacuate the injured soon after getting information about the accident.

Three other people succumbed to injuries before being admitted to the hospital.

Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Angrez Singh Rana told that 31 people have died and seven people are injurued.

Divisional Commissioner Jammu Sanjeev Verma termed it a “very very sad and unfortunate incident”. He told news agency that helicopters have been pressed into service to eavacuate the injured to GMC Jammu.

CMO Abdul Majeed Malik confirmed the death of the 28 persons on the spot and injuries to 11 others. Among, the injured, CMO said three were succumbed later. He said condition of some of the injured is also critical. (GNS)
