Rahul chairs meet of top state Congress leaders in Delhi

Jammu, Jul 01: Congress President Rahul Gandhi today chaired a meeting of top leaders of J&K State at New Delhi and discussed the overall political and security situation of the state.

Stop at the café on Khardung-La Pass, the highest all-season motorable road in the world, and take in the scenery; you'll feel as though you're on top of the world. Upon leaving Khardung-la, the terrain changes to a white sand desert as you approach the Nubra Valley, which is home to the Nubra Sand Dunes. Visit the Diskit Monastery, the oldest and biggest monastery in Ladakh, which also contains a sizable Buddha statue, if time permits.

The meeting was attended by leader of opposition in Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad, AICC General Secretary incharge J&K affairs Ambika Soni, AICC General Secretary incharge organization K.C. Venugopal, AICC Secretary incharge J&K, Dr. Shakeel Ahmed, JKPCC President G.A. Mir and party candidates in the recent Lok Sabha elections in the state including Raman Bhalla (Jammu), Vikramaditya Singh(Udhampur) and Farooq Ahmed Mir ( INC candidate from Baramula).The meeting deliberated upon the latest political situation in the wake of the results of the recent Lok Sabha elections and the preparations for the forthcoming Assembly elections in the state, which are otherwise due to be held any time, but State is under President’s rule, which has been extended for another spell of 6 months.

The meeting discussed the political scenario and the factors for the outcome of the present results of the recent Lok Sabha elections in the state and also the steps to be taken to gear up the organizational activities for the forthcoming assembly elections.

The meeting lasted for over around 55 minutes and had a detailed deliberations on various aspects of the situation and the measures to be taken for the strengthening of the party base in all three regions of the state and the chain of activities to be undertaken to increase the mass-contact programme of the party in all parts of the state, to highlight the problems confronting people and the failures of BJP to fulfill its commitments with people of the state, especially Jammu Region.

Rahul Gandhi asked the party leaders from the state to activate the cadres at various levels in order to highlight issues of people and expose the failures and falsehood of BJP and the failures of the Centre Government and erstwhile coalition Government in the state to come up to the expectations of the people on various vital commitments. The party should highlight the issues of people in three regions with a view to launch an offensive against BJP for their failures on various fronts besides neglect and failures to fulfill the commitments with the people of state.
