Kulgam Police arrested 03 drug peddlers, seized contraband substances

Visit the Diskit Monastery, the oldest and biggest monastery in Ladakh, which also contains a sizable Buddha statue, if time permits.

Sep 19:  Police has continued its action against drug dealings in Kulgam. Three drug peddlers were arrested at a checkpoint and contraband substances was recovered from their possession.

Officers at a checkpoint established at Qazigund Kulgam, intercepted a vehicle bearing registration no. DL1CM-0830 & arrested two drug peddlers identified as Harpeet Singh son of Pargat Singh resident of Berchha Bhayarpur and Prabdeyal son of Prem Lal resident of  Ward no. 02 village Dusuyal Hoshyarpor Punjab.

Officers at the checkpoint recovered 10 kg of Poppy Straw from their possession. They have been shifted to Police Station Qazigund where they remain in custody. Vehicle has also been seized in the matter.

Moreover, one more drug peddler was arrested at a checkpoint established at Command Post Jawahar Tunnel. He was identified as Satwan Singh son of Kalveer Singh resident of Laitra Jalander Punjab. 12 kg of Poppy Straw have been recovered from his possession. He has been shifted to Police Station Qazigund where he remain in custody.

 

Case FIR No. 243/2019 and 244/2019 under relevant sections have been registered in Police Station Qazigund & investigations initiated.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.

Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
