Girish Chandra Murmu appointed J&K Lt Guv; Satya Pal Malik given Goa charge

New Delhi, October 25: With a week left for bifurcation of J&K into two Union Territories, Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik has been transferred and appointed as Goa Governor. Girish Chandra Murmu will be the new Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir. Meanwhile, Radha Krishna Mathur has been appointed as Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh.

Prepare for the greatest experience after eating a nutritious breakfast. You will travel over some of the highest passes in the world on your adventure, and you will be greeted by ever-changing vistas of the desolate landscape. Stop at the café on Khardung-La Pass, the highest all-season motorable road in the world, and take in the scenery; you'll feel as though you're on top of the world. Upon leaving Khardung-la, the terrain changes to a white sand desert as you approach the Nubra Valley, which is home to the Nubra Sand Dunes. Visit the Diskit Monastery, the oldest and biggest monastery in Ladakh, which also contains a sizable Buddha statue, if time permits.

The move comes at least three months after the Centre scrapped special status of Jammu and Kashmir under Article 370 and also divided the state into two Union Territories – Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh.

On Tuesday, Malik said the post of Governor was weak and even had no power to conduct press conferences. “Governor is a very weak office… a poor fellow who has no power to address a press conference or speak openly,” Malik had said.
