PM Modi celebrates this Diwali in Rajouri with Army soldiers

SRINAGAR: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday arrived in Rajouri district to celebrate the auspicious occasion of Diwali with the army troops guarding the Line of Control, DNA reported. The report added that PM Modi distributed sweets to the soldiers to mark the festive celebrations.

Prepare for the greatest experience after eating a nutritious breakfast. You will travel over some of the highest passes in the world on your adventure, and you will be greeted by ever-changing vistas of the desolate landscape. Stop at the café on Khardung-La Pass, the highest all-season motorable road in the world, and take in the scenery; you'll feel as though you're on top of the world. Upon leaving Khardung-la, the terrain changes to a white sand desert as you approach the Nubra Valley, which is home to the Nubra Sand Dunes. Visit the Diskit Monastery, the oldest and biggest monastery in Ladakh, which also contains a sizable Buddha statue, if time permits.

The PM arrived in Rajouri in the afternoon on Sunday after directly flying to the Army Brigade Headquarters in the border district to interact with the troops deployed along the LoC, DNA quoted officials as saying.

This is his first visit to the valley after the Centre abrogated Article 370, which granted special status to the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir, on August 5.

Last year, PM Modi had visited the border positions of Uttarakhand. After taking over as prime minister in 2014, PM Modi visited the Siachen glacier base camp on his first Diwali as the PM of India.

Every year, the plan of visit is kept secret and the place of visit is revealed only through his Twitter handle. As part of the schedule, prime minister visits the jawans and distributes sweets amongst them.
