Kupwara Police arrests 02 drug peddlers, contraband substance seized

October 28: Police has continued its action against drug dealings in Kupwara. Two drug peddlers were arrested at a checkpoint and contraband substance was recovered from their possession.

Officers at a checkpoint established at Zab Khurhama, intercepted a motorcycle bearing registration No. JK13B-3469 & arrested two drug peddlers identified as Ashiq Hussain Sheikh son of Samad Sheikh  and Bashir Ahmad Poswal son of Laldin  both residents of Batnad Khurhama Kupwara.

Officers at the checkpoint recovered 330 grams of Charas from their possession. They have been shifted to Police Station Lalpora where they remain in custody. Motorcycle has also been seized in the matter.

Case FIR No. 97/2019 under relevant sections of law has been registered & investigation initiated.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.

Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
