DGP Prisons meets Lt. Governor

Prepare for the greatest experience after eating a nutritious breakfast. You will travel over some of the highest passes in the world on your adventure, and you will be greeted by ever-changing vistas of the desolate landscape. Stop at the café on Khardung-La Pass, the highest all-season motorable road in the world, and take in the scenery; you'll feel as though you're on top of the world. Upon leaving Khardung-la, the terrain changes to a white sand desert as you approach the Nubra Valley, which is home to the Nubra Sand Dunes. Visit the Diskit Monastery, the oldest and biggest monastery in Ladakh, which also contains a sizable Buddha statue, if time permits.

Jammu, November 4: Sh.V. K. Singh, Director General of Police, Prisons, Fire and Emergency, met Lieutenant Governor, Girish Chandra Murmu at the Raj Bhavan here today.

Sh. Singh briefed Lt. Governor about functioning and the adequacy of the security arrangements in prisons of Jammu and Kashmir, issues relating to the number and existing capacity of the jails and the gaps in their day-to-day administration. He also informed Lt. Governor about prisoner’s welfare programmes being run in the jails.

Lt. Governor stressed the importance of effectively ensuring the security arrangements in the jails, which, he said, must be run as per prescriptions in the jail manual, and adequate medical arrangements and the welfare of the prisoners be assured. Lt. Governor advised Sh. Singh to generate awareness regarding adherence to fire safety norms in all public buildings.
