Weatherman predicts pleasant weather till Nov 13

Less chances of snowfall, rainfall on Friday, weather will gradually improve from Sat morning: MeT

Srinagar, Nov 07 : As the Valley received season’s first snowfall since the intervening night of Wednesday-Thursday, the local Meteorological department (MeT) here has predicted improvement in the weather conditions from Thursday midnight.

The Valley received season’s first snowfall since the intervening night of November 06-07 following the intermittent rainfall on Wednesday. The rainfall followed by the snowfall out brakes on the normal life in Kashmir out of gear for the second consecutive day.

Talking to the wire service –Deputy Director of MeT Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad said that the snowfall would continue to occur till late Thursday evening, adding that as per the prediction, there is possibility that the snowfall would stop occurring at 11:00 PM today.

He added that the weather would start gradually improving by the time, adding that the weather conditions would remain cloudy on Friday, but there is less possibility of snowfall as well rainfall on Friday.

Ahmad further stated that there is prediction of pleasant weather conditions till November 13 from Friday evening. “The temperature across Kashmir has gone down up to 10 degree Celsius. The day temperature will go up gradually from Friday while as the night temperature will go further down,” he informed the wire service.

Pertinently, the weatherman had predicted season’s first snowfall from November 6-8 in Kashmir while as an advisory was also issued in this regard wherein the officials stated that the air and surface traffic will get hot by the prevalent weather conditions in Kashmir.

The major roads including the historic Mugghal road as well as Srinagar-Leh highway was closed for the traffic movement by the authorities on Wednesday due to the slippery conditions of roads, triggered by the first snowfall in higher reaches including the famous ski-resort Gulmarg  and tourist place Sonamarg. Some of the roads including Karnah and others were also blocked due to the snowfall. (KNO)
