Srinagar records coldest night of the season; Temperature dips across valley

The minimum temperatures have dipped below the freezing point in most places of the Valley, with the summer capital Srinagar registering the coldest night of the season so far.
Srinagar recorded the lowest night temperature of the season so far as the minimum temperature at most places in Kashmir division dropped below freezing point, MET official said.

The minimum temperature recorded in the city was minus 2.5 degrees Celsius, making it the coldest night so far, an official of the Meteorological Department said.

The famous ski resort of Gulmarg in north Kashmir, which experienced several feet of snowfall on various occasions last month, was the coldest place in Kashmir with a low of minus 6.2 degrees Celsius.

The famous hill resort of Pahalgam in south Kashmir recorded a minimum of minus 6.0 degrees Celsius while Kupwara township of north Kashmir recorded a low of minus 3.3 degrees Celsius.

Kokernag, in south Kashmir, recorded minus 1.8 degrees Celsius while Qazigund registered minus 2.3, he said.

In the Jammu region, Jammu city recorded 7.2 degrees Celsius, Katra recorded 8.7, Bannihal 6.1 and Bhaderwah 0.3 as the night’s lowest temperatures.
