SWACHHTA HI SURAKSHA’ – ENVIRONMENT SUPPORTING EVENTS ORGANISED BY CHINAR CORPS

Srinagar, 07 Dec 19.          The Chinar Corps in support of the “Plastic se Raksha, Swachhta hi Suraksha” campaign is undertaking the ‘Swachhta Pakhwada’. Aligned with the government’s ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’, this drive is committed to support the environmental campaign through awareness, specially the perils of Single Use Plastic (SUP). In Badami Bagh Cantonment use of plastic carrybags and SUP has long been disallowed.

Cantonments have long been the lungs of the cities. Service personnel right from training days observe environment friendly methods in their lives. The Army ways are eco-friendly in their approach wherein any minor impact on the environment is offset by frequent plantation drives which are driven by sheer sense of commitment to the cause of environment.

Indian Army’s eco-friendly DNA since long has been at the forefront of all green earth drives. Awareness campaigns, afforestation drives and associated activities / events have been observed where service personnel contribute wholeheartedly to the cause. Army locations in various parts of Kashmir also participated. Maintaining the drive to save the planet, the troops pledged to continue with their efforts towards a sustainable environment. The public has also been associated in the awareness in keeping the environment healthy. They are being acquainted with the environment’s best practices through lectures and interactions. Army managed schools have also contributed in the campaign. Through these schools, awareness campaigns towards discontinuation of SUP are being propagated. These collective efforts, led by the Chinar Corps, are towards bringing about positive environment-friendly changes.
