Talat Parvez reviews status of languishing projects of HED

Secretary Higher Education Department, Talat Parvez,on Tuesday chaired a meeting with senior officers of Higher Education and Roads & Buildings Departments to review status of languishing projects approved by the Finance Department in respect of the Higher Education Department.

Chief Engineer PWD (R&B) Kashmir, Engineer Sami Arif Yesvi; Financial Advisor and Chief Accounts Officer Higher Education, Manav Gupta; Superintendent Engineer R&B Jammu; Principal of various Degree Colleges besides other officers of concerned departments were present in the meeting.

Secretary had a detailed review of 31 languishing projects costing Rs.151.57 crore in respect of Higher Education Department comprising 15 projects being executed in Jammu University and 16 projects in different degree colleges. These projects have been approved by the 6th HPC of Finance Department.

The meeting was informed that various works on academic block and Boys/Girls Hostels of Kathua campus and Ramnagar degree college, works on Boys and Girls Hostels of Bhaderwah, Udhampur and Reasi degree colleges besides academic blocks in Reasi and Udhampur degree colleges are expected to be completed by March, 2020.

Secretary was informed about the present status of ongoing construction works on various Degree Colleges across the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir under the languishing projects including GDCs Kangan, Tral, Bishnah, Pattan, Sopore, Magam, Paloura, Akhnoor etc.

Secretary directed the executive agencies to expedite the ongoing works of these degree colleges and related projects of higher education department for timely completion.
