J&K sets up high-level panel for re-organisation of engineering staff in departments

Committee to submit report by Feb 28

Srinagar, Jan 18 : In a significant development, Jammu and Kashmir government has constituted a high-level committee for re-organisation of engineering staff in different departments.

According to wire service—, an order issued by the general administration department, the committee would be headed by Principal Secretary,Planning Development and Monitoring department.

 The committee has been mandated to examine and suggest rationalization/reorganization of engineering staff in various government departments for efficient performance and service delivery.

It has also been empowered to suggest measures to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of construction works in government departments as a whole.

The committee may co-opt any officer/expert in its deliberations as may be required, the order reveals.

The panel, which will be serviced by the Public Works (R&B) Department, has been asked to submit its report by February 28, 2020.

Apart from Principal Secretary Planning Development and Monitoring department, administrative secretary of different departments will be part of the committee.

As per KNO, the administrative secretaries of Roads and Buildings, Public Health Engineering, Power, Rural Development, Tourism Department and Housing and Urban Development departments would be members of the committee. The panel has been constituted at a time when engineering departments in J&K are either understaffed or overstaffed. (KNO)
