Darakhshan, Reddy discuss roadmap for Waqf reforms

Prepare for the greatest experience after eating a nutritious breakfast. You will travel over some of the highest passes in the world on your adventure, and you will be greeted by ever-changing vistas of the desolate landscape. Stop at the café on Khardung-La Pass, the highest all-season motorable road in the world, and take in the scenery; you'll feel as though you're on top of the world. Upon leaving Khardung-la, the terrain changes to a white sand desert as you approach the Nubra Valley, which is home to the Nubra Sand Dunes. Visit the Diskit Monastery, the oldest and biggest monastery in Ladakh, which also contains a sizable Buddha statue, if time permits.

Jammu, February 16 Chairperson of the Central Waqf Development Committee and senior BJP leader Darakhshan Andrabi on Sunday met Union Minister of State for Home Affairs G Kisan Reddy.

Issues related to J&K Waqf were discussed in detail. Andrabi presented a roadmap to the minister for re-structuring and streamlining of the J&K board. She appraised Reddy of the misuse of Waqf assets, properties and resources in J&K for the past 70 years by the ruling political dispensations for their political gains only.

She requested the minister to take concrete steps for the reform of the ailing J&K Waqf Board.

In addition to this, an elaborate discussion on strengthening of the sufi and spiritual traditions of J&K by promoting the organisations and individuals associated with the sufi thought in J&K for recreating a peaceful and inclusive social structure in the trouble-hit union territory was held during the meeting.

G Kisan Reddy thanked Andrabi for her insights related to Waqf and assured her that concrete steps would be taken soon. He also appreciated the idea of supporting and strengthening the sufi traditions of J&K to create an inclusive and tolerant society for ultimate peace and prosperity of the region.
