Police starts identification of people who participated in funeral of militant


Srinagar April 9: Police has started the investigation and identification of people who gathered at the funeral of militant in Sopore on Wednesday.


A police official said Sopore police has started the investigation and subsequent identification of those who participated in the funeral of militant in Saidpora yesterday.


“As per top police official the matter is being investigated on fast track basis and some of the participants who flayed govt. directions and took part in funeral procession have been identified through pictures/ videos circulated on social media and will be arrested shortly,” the official said.


The official said that the participation in funeral procession of the slain militant in such numbers not only “violates the set guidelines issued by the govt in wake of covid-19 but also exposes the entire population in the area to the pandemic”. The lockdown in the Sopore has also been intensified and people have been requested not to venture out in any circumstances barring medical exigencies, the police official added.
