COVID-19: MHA allows inter state movement of stranded passengers

Srinagar: The Ministry of Home Affairs has allowed inter-state movement of stranded tourists, pilgrims, students, and migrant workers.

According to the order issued by the ministry, state governments will make arrangements and buses will be used, after reaching their destination, such persons to stay in home quarantine, unless assessment by local authorities.

“The moving person would be screened and those found asymptomatic would be allowed to proceed,” state the order.

On arrival, the order says, on destination such persons would be accessed by the local health authorities and kept in home-quarantine unless the assessment requires keeping the persons in institutional quarantine. “They would be kept under watch with periodic health checkups.”

“All states or UTs should designate nodal authorities and develop standard protocols for receiving and sending such stranded persons. The nodal authorities shall also register the stranded persons within their states or UTs.”

“Buses shall be used for transport of group of persons,” the order adds. “The buses will be sanitized and shall follow safe social distancing norms in seating.”

Currently, the country is under a nationwide lockdown till 3 May to curb the spread of COVID-19.
