Stop at the café on Khardung-La Pass, the highest all-season motorable road in the world, and take in the scenery; you'll feel as though you're on top of the world. Upon leaving Khardung-la, the terrain changes to a white sand desert as you approach the Nubra Valley, which is home to the Nubra Sand Dunes. Srinagar, May 3(KINS): A doctor and a nurse were suspended on Sunday in Anantnag after a pregnant lady died due to alleged delay in treatment at Sub District Hospital (SDH) Seer Hamdan.

The deceased Shakeela wife of Zahoor Ahmad of Salia Anantnag was admitted to SDH Seer Hamdan on Saturday around 3 pm.

An official told news agency KINS that she was kept at a ward till Saturday evening. “She developed severe pain on Saturday evening. She was referred to Maternity and Child Care Hospital (MCCH) Anantnag on Sunday morning where she breathed her last,” the official said.

Block Medical Officer Mattan has suspended a medical officer and staff nurse who were on night duty when the incident took place.

The family alleged that the delay in the treatment at SDH Seer by the concerned doctors was the reason for her death.

This is the second death of a pregnant lady in Anantnag district within eight days.

Earlier a pregnant lady also died at MCCH Anantnag. The family of the deceased alleged that the Maternity and Child Care Hospital in Anantnag, where the 32-year old woman delivered dead twins and shortly died last week did not follow the proper protocol as they handed over the body to her family before the test results came out positive, due to which a large number of people attended her funeral in Kharpoora (Already declared hotspot) area of Anantnag.(KINS)
