Srinagar, May 07 : Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir range Vinay Kumar on Thursday said that it killed 64 militants and arrested 25 since January this year.
ANI quoted IGP Kashmir as saying , security forces launched 27 operations and killed 64 militants since January this year in Jammu and Kashmir. He said 25 active militants were also arrested during the time.
IGP while commenting over Beighpora gunfight where Hibz chief commander Riyaz Naikoo’ his associate were killed on Wednesday said we had been working on this for over 6 months.
Pertinently, Director General of Police (DGP) on Wednesday evening in an interview with TV channel said there has been excellent team work in the Beighpora gunfight , he said this operation continued for 3-4 hours as there was a delay when youth pelted stones on forces.
The 35-year-old Naikoo had joined militant ranks in 2012. Naikoo, a former mathematics teacher at a private school, was one of the close aides of the popular Hizb commander Burhan Muzaffar Wani who was killed in Bumdoora village in Kokernag area of South Kashmir on 8 July 2016.
Meanwhile police on late Wednesday in a statement said Reyaz Naikoo was masterminded behind the revival of Hizbul Mujahideen outfit in Jammu and Kashmir.
