Srinagar, June 2 (KINS): Some prominent musicians and instrumentalists across Jammu and Kashmir have joined hands to hold first ever virtual music concert—titled as ‘Qaraar’.
According to news agency KINS, the artists including vocalist and composer, Waheed Jeelani, famous singer from Chenab valley, Rashid Jehangir, percussionist (Nutt), Ab Rashid Shah, Journalist and Rabab player, Nazir Ganaie, vocalists including Ishfaq Kawa, Raja Bilal, Altaf Sahil and academician and vocalist, Dr Shaista Ahmad, will get together for virtual concerts to show solidarity to the people who are at the frontline in the battle against COVID 19 and also entertain people during tough times.
The concert is organized and hosted by the Kashmir Music Club (KMC), Srinagar. The concert will be held between 6pm and 9pm on June 07, 2020, live on facebook. Young and prominent RJ, Vijdhan Saleem would be conducting the concert online.
Talking about the initiative, Chairman, Kashmir Music Club, Srinagar, Waheed Jeelani, said: “This is not just a concert, it’s a movement. We want to take this concert to screens across the globe.”
“We are happy to get some well-known and young artists together to take this concert ahead,” he said.
Jeelani said “Every person, a health worker, an essential services provider or citizen at home – is contributing in this battle. Especially mothers, home makers and sisters at home who are bearing the burden,” he said. “As artists, we thought we could do something together to bring some positivity in times of crisis,” he said.
Veteran theater personality and Bollywood actor, MK Raina lauded the role of Kashmiri artists—saying that it was moment of pride for the Kashmiri diaspora—that they can connect to their music and language with this concert—Qaraar.
In his video message to the organizers, Raina described Kashmiri artists “highly talented”—who according to him can do wonders if they were given right platform.
“With this initiative by Waheed Jeelani and his team, people across the globe will be able to connect to Kashmiri and its music,” he said.
Bollywood actor and son of the soil, Mir Sarwar applauded the organizers for coming together. “I am happy that some of our well known artists will entertain the masses and try to lighten their stress, strain and depression in these tough times. My best wishes to the team,” he said.
Actor and cultural activist, Mushtaq Ali Ahmad Khan said “Music fills all emptiness of life.” He wished that with this concert, hope it brings positivism among the lives of listeners, saying that he would he waiting for the concert Qaraar. He also urged people to get connected and appreciate the artists in their endeavors.(KINS)
