Amid Covid, Major relief for expecting mothers, DC Anantnag designates John Bishop hospital exclusively for pregnant women

Anantnag, June 07 (KINS): In a major breather for the expecting mothers, who are under tight grip of fear due to rising number of Covid positive pregnant women, John Bishop hospital in Southern district of Anantnag will cater to the positive pregnant women specifically.

The announcement was made by Deputy Commissioner Anantnag Kuldeep Krishan Sidha.

 “It is a 20-Bed hospital with operation theater (OT) facility. All the necessary facilities will be made available for pregnant ladies. The staff posted at John Bishop hospital will be paid as per the norms”, the DC Anantnag told news agency Kashmir Indepth News Service (KINS)

He said that District Administration designated John Bishop hospital for pregnant ladies in view of growing coronavirus positive cases in Anantnag district.

“We have designated this hospital for one month as there are 900 pregnant woman who are about to deliver babies this month. Of them, 62 have tested positive of which 22 have recovered,” he said.

It is pertinent to mention here that during the ongoing pandemic, two pregnant women have already died due to the pandemic in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.(KINS)
