Agri Dept creating market avenues for vegetable growers

SRINAGAR, JUNE 15: Keeping in view the importance of vegetable growers interests, Department of Agriculture Kashmir has taken pro active steps for marketing of their crops.

This was stated by Director Agriculture Kashmir, Altaf Aijaz Andrabi while taking a meeting of various progressive vegetable growers of Pulwama District here at Agriculture Complex Lalmandi today.

The Director said that department is facilitating refrigerated vans for delivering quality and fresh vegetables to the consumers at their door steps, refrigerated vans are loaded directly from the fields of farmers from various districts of Kashmir province.

He said that the main aim of facilitating refrigerated vans is to make prices competitive to provide relief to consumers amid covid-19 crisis and besides ensure that the growers get maximum reach out to the market to increase their income.

The Director further added the department is committed to promote the vegetable sector of valley for fulfilling domestic requirement and could create surplus vegetables which could be transported to national as well as international market.

Among others Deputy Director Agriculture (Central), Nodal officer Agriculture Market Linkage and other senior officers of the department were also present in the meeting.
