Army destroys two live mortar shells in Uri, 2nd time in last 15 days

Srinagar, June 23(KINS) : Army’s Bomb Disposal Squards on Tuesday destroyed two live mortar shells in Nambla area of Uri sector in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

An army official told Kashmir Indepth News Service (KINS) , that last week Pakistan army fired a number of mortar shells along the line of control (LOC) in Hajipeer sector of Uri in which two shells landed in a Nambla village but did not explode. He said both shells were successfully destroyed by a bomb disposal squad of Army without causing harm to anyone on Tuesday afternoon.

It is second time in this month Pak live mortal shells were destroyed by Army in Uri, earlier on June 08 Army claimed to have destroyed a live mortar shell in Dardkote area of Uri.

Pertinently, a woman was killed and five others suffered injuries sofar in an exchange of fire between the two armies along with the sector this month. (KINS)
