Gandagi Mukht Bharat campaign enters third day in J&K

Srinagar, Aug 10 (KINS): The nationwide weeklong behavior change sanitation campaign “Gandagi Mukht Bharat ” entered the third day in  Jammu and Kashmir.

Prepare for the greatest experience after eating a nutritious breakfast. You will travel over some of the highest passes in the world on your adventure, and you will be greeted by ever-changing vistas of the desolate landscape. Stop at the café on Khardung-La Pass, the highest all-season motorable road in the world, and take in the scenery; you'll feel as though you're on top of the world. Upon leaving Khardung-la, the terrain changes to a white sand desert as you approach the Nubra Valley, which is home to the Nubra Sand Dunes. Visit the Diskit Monastery, the oldest and biggest monastery in Ladakh, which also contains a sizable Buddha statue, if time permits.

Officials told news agency kashmir Indepth News Service (KINS), that all the districts were seen actively participating in various types of activities which include cleaning of public buildings, health institutions, play grounds, streets, roads, foot paths and filth dumping yards.

At some places white washing of IHHLs, latrines, community sanitary complexes and Panchayat ghar was undertaken.

“Sarpanches, Panches and other local people participated in large numbers   enthusiastically in the campaign in all the areas.  All the activities vis- a-vis Gandadi Mukht Bharat  Campaign have been planned in such a manner that standard operating procedures (SOP) prescribed  by government for containment of spread of  COVID -19 are followed religiously,” the officials said.

It is pertinent to mention here that during the ongoing week on  each day  special Swachta initiatives in rural areas to re-enforce the ‘jan andolan’ for ‘Swachta’ are being taken up to promote positive behavioural change on sanitation and hygiene.

At the District level the campaign is being led by the District Panchayat Officers under the supervision of concerned Deputy Commissioners.
The campaign at UT level is being led by Director , Rural Sanitation, J&K  under the overall supervision and guidance of Secretary RDD & PR, J&K.(KINS)
