Awantipora Police arrests 02 bootleggers, recovers 17 bottles of illicit liquor

August 16: Police in Awantipora arrested two bootleggers and recovered 17 bottles of illicit liquor from their possession.

Officers at a checkpoint established at Nambal Crossing Awantipora, intercepted a vehicle bearing Chassis number E58553 with two persons on board. They have been identified as Bilal Ahmad Dar and Shamim Ahmad Mir both residents of Chowalgam Kulgam.  During search officers were able to recovered 17 bottles of illicit liquor from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to Police Station Awantipora where they remain in custody. Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.

Accordingly, case FIR No. 109/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered in PS Awantipora and investigation into the matter has been initiated.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding anti social elements in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in anti social activities will be dealt as per law.
