JKPA Flays Assault on Frontline Journos

Srinagar, Sep 15 (KINS): The Executive Members of Jammu Kashmir Press Association (JKPA)  in an emergency meeting Tuesday presided over by GH Kaloo have condemned assault on Mr Kamran at Kakapora, where he had gone to cover the event, but was allegedly beaten by a Police officer to the pulp.

In a statement issued to news agency Kashmir Indepth News Service (KINS) the JKPA said, “It is worth mentioning that the President JKPA had brought into the notice of the LG Manoj Sinha during Press Meet on 4th instant that our correspondents/ Photojournalists are often maltreated by security forces whenever they cover any event. His apprehension has proved correct as the said photojournalist has been thrashed while he was discharging his professional duties. The JKPA demands an impartial probe into the incident and stern punishment awarded to the accused”.(KINS)
