Awantipora Police inaugurates Volleyball tournament at Khrew

Visit the Diskit Monastery, the oldest and biggest monastery in Ladakh, which also contains a sizable Buddha statue, if time permits.

Srinagar, Oct 02 (KINS): In order to inculcate & promote sports spirit among the youth and build healthy Police-Public relations, besides taking forward youth friendly policing initiative particularly in rural areas, Awantipora Police inaugurated a Volley ball tournament in collaboration with Khrew Sports Forum at Khrew Awantipora.

Police in a statement issued to news agency KINS said, “On the occasion, SSP Awantipora Shri Tahir Saleem Khan-JKPS accompanied with SDPO Pampore and SHO Khrew and other officials were present. Besides, respectable citizens and sports lovers of the area witnessed the opening ceremony of the Volley ball tournament.

It is pertinent to mention here that 08 teams from various places of Police District Awantipora are participating in this tournament.

While interacting with the Sports Forum Khrew, media persons and players, SSP Awantipora expressed that a cricket & a volleyball tournament will also be organized in coming days by Awantipora police in Khrew Pampore area in which number of teams will be participating and every kind of assistance will be given to the participating teams to promote and boost the sports activities in the area.

Besides sports kits (uniform, Volleyballs, Nets etc) were also distributed among the players by Police Awantipora.

Community members and youth of the area have appreciated the efforts of Awantipora police and expressed hope that police will provide them similar platform in future to show case their talents”.(KINS)
