B2V3: DDC Ganderbal participates in Gram Sabha at Prang


GANDERBAL, OCTOBER 03: The 2nd day of the ambitious programme witnessed multi-pronged events and activities as part of the mega launch of Back to Village-3 in 42 Panchayat Halqas in the district.
The events included public interactions, awareness programmes on welfare schemes, sports activities, distribution of sports items, baby kits, convening of Gram Sabhas, public grievances redressal camps besides seeking public suggestions and feedback.
The Designated officers visited their allotted panchayats and assessed the development needs of rural areas besides awaring masses about the government schemes.
The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Ganderbal, Shafqat Iqbal on the occasion visited various Panchayat Halqas in Kangan Sub-Division to assess the progress of the programme on day 2.
During his visit to Panchayat Halqa Prang-A, the Sarpanch and local representatives apprised the DDC about various issues of public importance.
The DDC while giving patient hearing to the peoples issues, he said that this ambitious programme is aimed at to assess the progress on redressal of issues and grievances raised during earlier phases of the programme besides an initiative to provide governance at the door steps of the rural populace to enlist community participation in decision making for envisaging a total transformation in the rural profile.
After chairing a meeting, the DDC urged upon the local populace to participate in the Gram Sabhas to put their demands as per their needs besides get awareness about the benefit oriented schemes available with the departments which can help in changing their socio- economic conditions especially living in far flung areas.
Later, DDC visited Panchayat Halqa Margund where he interacted with the visiting officer and people there and said that through the Back to Village program the Government aims to strengthen the functioning of the PRIs to ensure effective service delivery to people at their doorsteps.
Meanwhile, the DDC along with SSP also witnessed the final cricket match of Kangan Premier League played at Sheik-ul-Alam Ground Kangan in which 32 teams had participated which was part of B2V3. The DDC distributed trophies and medals among the winning and runners up teams.
