Awantipora police arrests drug peddler, contraband substance recovered


Srinagar, Dec 01 (KINS): Acting tough against the drug dealings, Police in Awantipora Tuesday said that it arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued to news agency KINS the police said that officers at a checkpoint established at Kawani Crossing Awantipora intercepted a person identified as Farooq Ahmad Ganie resident of Braw Bandina Awantipora. During checking, officers were able to recover 01 Kg of Charas from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station Awantipora where he remains in custody.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No.181/2020 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Awantipora and further investigation has been initiated.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace. (KINS)
