Relief & Rehabilitation Deptt refutes News Report regarding implementation of PM Package for K-Migrants

JAMMU, JANUARY 29: Relief & Rehabilitation Department has refuted News Report regarding implementation of PM Package, which appeared in a section of press.
The department clarified that the News report is completely misleading and not based on facts.
It clarified that among others, the PM package for Kashmiri Migrants has two major components – one pertaining to the provision of 6000 jobs for youth and another pertaining to the provision of 6000 accommodation units for the recruited employees.
Clarifying the correct position in respect of these components, the department stated that ‘As regards the jobs, out of 6000 posts, 3841 candidates have already been selected and appointed in various Departments. The remaining 2000 odd posts have been referred to JKSSB. The JKSSB has already received more than 30,000 applications for these posts and the selection process shall be completed by end of April, 2021. This will ensure completion of the PM package component related to jobs. There are a few posts which have remained unfilled due to matters which are subjudice in Courts.’
Clarifying further, the department said that ‘As regards the construction of 6000 accommodation units, significant progress has been achieved in the last few months. While 1000 odd units have already been constructed, another 1500 were approved for construction in November, 2020. The tenders for these 1500 units have either been finalized or will be finalized before the end of March, 2021. Land identification has been done for another 2200 units. The DPRs for these units are under finalization and their tenders will be finalized before the end of May, 2021. Cumulatively, the procedural process has substantially been completed for nearly 5000 accommodation units. It is expected that land for the remaining 1000 units will be identified within a month which will substantially expedite the project. The migrants employees recruited under the PM package will be fully accommodated within the next 18 to 24 months.’
