SDD has pivotal role to overcome unemployment in J&K: Dr Samoon
Reviews upgradation of Machinery, Equipments in ITIs, Polytechnics


Jammu Feb 11 (KINS): Principal Secretary, Skill Development Department (SDD), Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon Thursday chaired a meeting to review upgradation of Machinery &Equipments in ITIs /Polytechnics as well as Physical and Financial progress on projects being executed by SDD under CAPEX budget.
The meeting was attended by Director SDD, Sajad Hussain Ganie; Chief Engineer R&B Jammu, Director Finance (SDD), Joint Director SDD, Principals and Superintendents of Polytechnics and ITIs of   Jammu Division and other concerned officials of the department while as Chief Engineer R&B Kashmir, Principals and Superintendents of Polytechnics and ITIs   from Kashmir division and other officials participated in the meeting through video conferencing.
Principal Secretary said that the SDD has a pivotal role in providing skilled trainings to the youth in order to overcome unemployment in Jammu and Kashmir. He directed the concerned officers to work with utmost dedication and zeal to ensure empowerment of youth by way of imparting requisite skills and trainings so that they can compete in today’s technical era.
Dr. Samoon also reviewed in detail the physical and financial achievements under CAPEX budget 2020-21 in reference to ongoing works, new works, maintenance of capital assets, machinery & equipments and material supply to Government Polytechnics and ITIs.
The meeting also discussed various ongoing works of Polytechnics/ITIs including construction of hostel at Government Polytechnic Boys Jammu, construction of hostel at Govt Polytechnic, Anantnag, construction of workshop for Motor Mechanic, Plumber Trade & auto mobile service station at ITI R S Pura, construction of hostel building at Banihal, construction of computer cum language laboratory at women ITI Rohama and construction of computer cum language Laboratory at ITI Kulgam.
Director, SDD informed the meeting that requisite funds have been made available to the executing agencies for carrying out different works at various Polytechnics and ITIs.
While reviewing the physical and financial progress on these works, Dr. Samoon directed the senior officers of executing agencies to complete the ongoing projects in stipulated time frame. He emphasized to procure machinery and other equipments of upgraded technology and as per demands of present scenario.
Principal Secretary stressed upon the Principals and Superintendents of ITIs/Polytechnics to arrange job fairs and placement drives at districts levels so that maximum job opportunities can be provided to ITI/Polytechnic pass outs. (KINS)
