KINS Desk
Srinagar, Mar 06 (KINS): The President Ramnath Kovind said that the objective of a judicial system is not only to resolve disputes, but also to protect justice.
“To remove the delay in justice is also an important step to protect justice, the President said while speaking at the inaugural ceremony of All India State Judicial Academies Directors’s Retreat at Manas Bhawan, Jabalpur.
Appreciating the efforts of MP state Judicial Academy, the President said that now there is a need to increase the scope of training of judges as well as other judicial and quasi-judicial officers for speedy disposal of pending cases in the country’s courts, especially the district courts.
He advised the judiciary to play a proactive role while staying vigilant in resolving these loopholes present in the court proceedings and process and said that this goal can be achieved by adopting innovations at national and international level and sharing best practices. Appreciating the use of technology in the courts, the President praised the computerization of over 18,000 courts in the country.
The President said that about seventy six million cases were heard by virtual courts in the country during lockdown. This is also a remarkable step towards the use of technology in the judiciary. This is the first event of its kind in the country, in which judicial academies across the country are sharing their efforts on improving the judicial system.  The program was also addressed by Chief Justice of India Justice Sharad Arvind Bobde, Governor of Madhya Pradesh Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan.
