DC Reasi distributes SAKSHAM scholarships, pension certificates among 24 beneficiaries

REASI, JUNE 30 (KINS):     Deputy Commission Reasi, Charandeep Singh today distributed scholarship and pension certificates among 24 beneficiaries under SAKSHAM social protection scheme  rolled out by the Lieutenant Governor for families affected by Covid-19.

Deputy Commissioner Charandeep Singh said that under the scheme, cash assistance of Rs. 1000 per month will be provided to the spouse or the eldest member of the family who lost their bread earner to Covid.

Apart from this, the scheme provides for the scholarship of Rs. 20,000 per annum for the school going students and Rs. 40,000 per annum for the college going students. A family in distress shall be eligible for the scholarship for two children, if they are not getting any other scholarship, he added.

DC directed District Social Welfare Officer for providing immediate care, protection to Covid affected families, children under Saksham.

While interacting with the beneficiaries, the DC inquired about their issues and assured early redress of their problems. He directed the concerned authorities to get in regular touch of covid affected families for effective projection of their needs and requirements related to health, food and also asked for generating self employment opportunities for such victims.

The DC further informed that the District Covid Cell will work for solving the grievances of such Covid affected families. (KINS)
