Srinagar, Jul 6 (KINS)Paying tributes to Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee on his birth anniversary on Tuesday, Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory (UT) Lt Governor Manoj Sinha said he was a great patriot and architect of modern India.
“Humble tributes to Dr Mookerjee on his Birth Anniversary”, Mr Sinha said in a message today.
He said “My sincere tributes to Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee on his birth anniversary. He as a visionary statesman, an accomplished Barrister , social reformer, educationists of great repute, who devoted his whole life for the unity and integrity of the motherland”.
He said Dr Mookerjee was a great patriot and architect of modern India, his service for the industrialization, development and national integration have been equally great. The growing clout of India in the world is a living example of his life, work and vision, the Lt Governor said.
Dr Mookerjee entered Jammu and Kashmir in 1953 without permit (Identity card) and was arrested at Lakhanpur, gateway of the erstwhile state bordering Punjab on May 11.
However, he died in a Srinagar hospital on June 23, 1953 of heart attack.
