District Chess Championships conclude

 

Srinagar Aug 15,(KINS): The district chess championships organized by All J&K Chess Association (AJKCA) under the aegis of J&K State Sports Council concluded successfully in Bandipora, Shopian and Srinagar districts.

A spokesperson of AJKCA in a statement said about 40 players both boys and girls participated in district Bandipora which was held at IDPS Kaloosa from August 11-12 and in Shopian about 60 players both boys and girls participated which was conducted at Degree College Shopian and High School Pahanoo Shopian from August 13-14 while in Srinagar 90 players participated in the championship which was held at Indoor Sports Complex Polo View from August 12 -14. The winners were awarded prizes and certificates.

In district Bandipora Abdul Majid Manager J&K Sports Council was chief guest while in Shopian Farooq Ahmad Malik Head Master of Pahanoo High School was chief guest and in Srinagar Riyaz Ahmad Khan Manager J&K Sports Council was chief guest and Mohammad Iqbal was guest of honour.

 

Soon after concluding district Srinagar championship the All J&K Chess Association 1st time organized Blitz Tournament in which about 10 rounds were played and was widely appreciated.

In district Bandipora in sub junior boys Wahid Gowhar Tak secured 1st position, Mohammad Usaid and Mohammad Zyan bagged 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.

In sub junior girls, Anam Imitiyaz, Zainab Abbas and Maliha Rehmani secured first three positions respectively.

In Shopian sub junior boys Usman Nazir secured 1st position. Under 11 category, Malik Sammad secured 1st position.

In Srinagar district Khairal Nisa bagged 1st position in under 05 girls category. While under 11 girls Amroz Sajjad secured 1st position while Haaniyah Malik and Zainab Ameer secured 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.

In under 13 girls Areeba Shabir secured 1st position & 2nd position was bagged by Shujata Parray. Under 19 girls 1st position was bagged by Mehrooz Sajjad.

In senior category girls Injeela Amin, Danisha and Ayman Mukhtar bagged first three positions respectively.

Mehrooz Sajjad was overall champion in the girls category tournament. In boys under 05 Mohammad Salman secured 1st position and was the youngest participant in the championship.

Under 07 category Hamza Malik secured 1st position, Moosa secured 2nd position and 3rd position was bagged by Mohammad Usman.

Under 09 boys Bareeq Rafiq and Mir Anas bagged first two positions respectively.

Similarly under 11 boys Syed Jibran, Ahmad Ali and Burooj Ibrahim bagged first three positions respectively.

 

While under 13 boys category, Mohammad Mohatasin, Arif Ahmad and Basit Arshid secured first three positions.

 

Under 15 boys Tawfeez Shah secured 1st position and Owais Haseef bagged 2nd position.

 

Under 19 boys Rozal Sajjad secured 1st position and Faizan Shabir bagged 2nd position. In the senior category Khalid Ahmad Baba secured 1st position while 2nd and 3rd positions were bagged by Jassim Rashid and Nadeem Hussain.

 

In Blitz Tournament Khalid Amin Gojwari secured 1st position, 2nd position was bagged by Junaid Shah and 3rd position by Khalid Ahmad Baba.

 

Mushtaq Ahmad Malik and Burhan Ahmad Wani were Arbiters & A.R.Wani was the Chief arbiter of the District Srinagar Chess Championship.
