LG Ladakh,  Army officers witness event organized to commemorate 1971 victory

Leh, Aug 23 (KINS ) The Fire and Fury Corps on Monday organized an event to commemorate Swarnim Vijay Varsh here in Ladakh.

A defence ministry spokesman Col Emron Musavi said that an event commemorating Swarnim Vijay Varsh was organised  at Col Sonam Wangchuk Stadium, Leh under the aegis of Fire and Fury Corps to commemorate our nation’s resounding military victory in the 1971 War.

Lt Governor UT Ladakh RK Mathur and Lieutenant General PGK Menon, General Officer Commanding, Fire and Fury Corps graced the occasion alongwith other civil and military dignitaries.

The event commenced with a rousing welcome to the Swarnim Vijay Varsh Mashaal by the entire gathering.

Various activities, including a Dog Show by Army Dog Unit, a Pipe Band Display by Ladakh Scouts Regimental Centre, Polo Match between Ladakh Scouts Regimental Centre and local team ‘Indus Warriors’ and Para Motor Display by Army Para Motor Team were also conducted.

All events were enthusiastically cheered on by the audience which included School Children, NCC Cadets and Veterans. Patriotic songs along with accompaniments by local musicians were also sung, he said .
