SFs foil PDP youth wing meet in Anantnag

Anantnag, Aug 28 (KINS ) Security forces on Saturday foiled a meeting of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) youth wing in this south Kashmir district.

All gates leading to the graveyard of former Chief Minister Mufti Mufti Mohammad Sayeed were closed with barbed wire and by parking bullet proof vehicles.

A procession of the youth PDP was stopped by the security forces at a distance and not allowed to move towards the grave yard at Bijbhara in Anantnag Saturday.

Shouting slogans against the government, the processionists, carrying placards, alleged that they were not being allowed to hold a peaceful meeting.

Meanwhile, PDP president and former CM Mehbooba Mufti said PDP youth wing was not allowed to hold a meeting at Bijbehar today.

She alleged that the gates leading to Mufti Sayeed’s grave have been locked and blocked with barbed wires.

Can police explain why were these young men roughed up, she questioned.

Mehbooba alleged that preventing PDP youth from holding a meeting in South Kashmir reinforces Government of India (GOI) strategy of not allowing any meaningful political engagement, especially one that involves Kashmiri youngsters.

She said GOI wants to justify their iron fist approach by branding all Kashmiris as perpetrators of violence.

The PDP further alleged that daily encounters where militants are killed have become a source of celebration for GOI. But PDP doesn’t believe in violence or dignity in death. We want to fight peacefully & politically. By discouraging political activities GOI is pushing Kashmiris to the wall, she alleged.
